The teeny, cozy coffee shop barely has room for the line that gathers on weekend mornings for breakfast, let alone the employees whizzing around behind the piled-high display of creative baked goods. Seating is admittedly hard to come by in the community-organizing spot, but on the chance that an outdoor table is open on a sunny day, wait there for your name to be called by someone with a white paper bag in hand. The lunch menu is very good, but always get a breakfast sandwich on a huge housemade scallion-cheddar biscuit. The egg, fried in the circular shape of McD’s, is a little rigid atop the craggy biscuit, yes. But the combination of the Ranchero sandwich’s black-bean spread, cheddar, and homemade salsa makes for a satisfying morning alongside local Kitten Coffee. Be sure not to leave without something sweet: The cocoa-caramel cookie is easily the best choice, but there are vegan options, too.
