There are endless health-focused cafés in this city, but few offer food that's made with local, seasonal ingredients (and no fake mystery meats). Nourish Kitchen + Table's menu changes daily, but you can always expect to find several grain- and greens-based salads, three hearty proteins (pork, roast chicken, and grilled fish), and a coconut-based, fruit-topped Kuchen cake. While this West Village eatery certainly caters to those with dietary restrictions, it isn't polarizing at all. Owner and nutritionalist Marissa Lippert has an accessible, balanced outlook on health, and many of her recipes contain dairy, meat—and gasp!—gluten. She utilizes exotic Moroccan spice blends, tahini-lemon dressings, pomegranates, and truffle oil to elevate salads with kale, farro, soba noodles, and quinoa. While this is essentially a takeaway shop (all the food is out on the counter and it's priced by the number of dishes in your box—not by pound), the actual space is lovely. There's a small communal table, which overlooks a curated selection of artisan kitchenware items and cookbooks that are all available for purchase. Even if you just stop in for a housemade green juice or cup of Counter Culture coffee, you'll find yourself chatting with the friendly staffers and picking up a tartine and a macaroon for the next day's lunch.
