Amid kitschy, grain-themed decor that includes a wall of vintage oats cans, chef-owner Samantha Stephens stocks Porto Rico Coffee alongside pastries, truffles, cookies, scones, granola, and biscotti, all made from oatmeal and baked in-house. The real star, though, are the Wild Hive Farm oats, mixed with either milk or water, plus myriad toppings. The Baby Bear, Mama Bear and Papa Bear sizes come filled to the brim with add-ons ranging from sweet (fresh or dried fruit, chocolate chips) to savory (veggie bacon, pesto) to altogether intriguing (mascarpone cheese, truffle oil). The cafe also offers a menu of already paired options for the indecisive: Wholesome Quatre Fruits Rouge and cardamom-sprinkled Indian Spiced are standouts. For homesick northerly types, the Canadian is an all-out mix of cheddar cheese, bacon, roasted apples, and maple syrup.

Recommended Dishes

Indian spiced, $4.50-$6.50, fig & gorgonzola, $4.50-$6.50; quatre fruits rouge, $5-$7
