Roasted chickens and ducks hanging in the front window may be the lure for the uninitiated at this always-bustling Chinese restaurant (technically in Little Italy), but Chinese-speaking diners appear to flock here for the menu. Many of the dishes can be oily and oversalted, but it’s hard to argue against food this filling and cheap. Standouts include the chewy pork belly or succulent lamb accompanied by thin slices of tofu, plus solid seafood picks like a bowl of clams swimming in black-bean sauce like it was soup. A selection of lo mein and fried rice, along with a variety of vegetarian options, round out the menu. Service is efficient, not always accommodating: Inquiring about the steamed fish of the day resulted in a nod to the bubbling tank up front. Different generations of families take up seats at the large, round glass tables draped with pink tablecloths in the narrow dining area, but delivery and take-out are also popular: Those stopping in can choose from trays of sweet-and-sour pork and fish with broccoli displayed behind the counter, or pick out the hanging fowl of their choice.
