Profile

When this landmark knisherie expanded its menu and spruced up its interior, some locals felt let down. For the hard-core fans, the tin ceiling and new antique fans rang false, while the window just ended up revealing a Starbucks across the street. Still, having served the Jews and the gentiles since 1952, the updated Original Knish Nosh still cranks out noteworthy (and large) hand-rolled knishes that expand beyond kasha and carrot mushroom to cocktail varieties such as one filled with pastrami. The premade food—stuffed cabbage, meatballs, and whitefish salad—takes second place to the carb cake. So do like the regulars and stick to the formula: a knish, a Hebrew National frank in a blanket, and a Dr. Brown’s soda. Rugallech optional.

Delivery

Original Knish Nosh has a wholesale business in addition to the restaurant. The delivery area spans all five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester.
