An Upper West Side parrillada, Pampa will remind you why Argentina is known as the beef capital of the world. Hungry carnivores find bliss in the smoky-flavored filet mignon wrapped in bacon, the sizzling skirt steak, or assorted sweetbreads. Those looking for lighter fare are not without their own solace, as the seafood and pasta choices are also exceptional. The delicious red snapper special, served over a stew of tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms is a saucy delight to suit every taste.

One would think that at a steak restaurant, the most important issue would be getting your steak cooked just the way you want it. Not so at Pampa! My steak was over-cooked and I told my waitress. She wouldn't replace it and suggested that maybe I had made a mistake and had ordered it that way. I was left wondering if this was the case, that after 40 years of ordering steaks the same way, if I had made a mistake... The overall ambiance seemed great, but if you get the steak wrong, and then refuse to make it right, why would anyone go back?

Been there many times before but a week ago (6/05) the experience was plain bad. The beef was overcooked, the milanesa was sweet, yes! sweet. And when we told the waitress she said "sorry" and made no effort to do anything about it.
