There’s no guarantee when an eatery puts a type of food in its name that it’s going to have a flair for it. But Panini Grill does. Between slices of just-heated, pressed, brick-oven bread—acquired daily from Royal Crown bakery—come thirty-two different kinds of Italian sammies. All are big enough to split but the P13 (filled with ricotta, broccoli rabe, and grilled or fried eggplant) and the P5 (turkey with gooey caramelized onions and a savory artichoke spread) may counteract your generous impulse to share. Personal pizzas take second place, with a thin but hearty, crunchy crust that easily holds up to the multitude of toppings, even the heft of the lasagna pie a.k.a, the Willowbrook. (Pies are named after local neighborhoods.) Service is the ultimate oxymoron: reliably forgetful. And even though the menu is seven pages long, the rest is best left alone.
