This tiny restaurant in the former Xicala space on Elizabeth Street excels at simple, Spanish preparations of seafood. It's a smart move to go on a Sunday, Monday, or a Tuesday, when happy hour is offered all day and night. That means you can start your meal with a refreshing glass of $6 wine and hot baked clams, which are garnished with pimento, watercress, and a light coating of bread crumbs. The tapas plates are better than the entrées: Order fish ceviche for the table—and ask for an extra portion of the excellent rice chips. The octopus, with paprika and a heavy pour of olive oil, is another standout. Practically every plate is drowning in olive oil, but that's not at all a bad thing when the oil is sourced from Spain. The sautéed prawns, which come in a garlic-lemon-white-wine sauce, are exceptional. With the vintage-inspired décor and heavy wine pours, you'll really feel transported out of the city. If you can, sit at one of the tables near the window. A nice breeze and view makes eating Spanish tapas even more enjoyable and relaxing.
