Although the Belgian food craze waned a few years back, Petite Abeille has bucked trends by serving classics like moules marinières and, yes, Belgian waffles during weekend brunch. Less than twenty bucks gets you steamed mussels and french fries. Basic meat and fish dishes in the twenty-dollar range round out the dinner menu; sandwiches and omelettes rule during lunch. — Andy Bailey

I have been here a number of times. While the food is consistently good, the service is laughably bad every single time. It takes forever for a server to come over to the table or bring the check and the order timing is all off (on my most recent trip, it took about 30 min. for me to get my meal, then my husband got his about 10 min. later, and we finally got drinks about 10 min. after that). The indoor seating can get pretty noisy, too, particularly because there are usually a lot of small children running around. Why do I keep going back, you ask? It's one of the few places in the neighborhood that has outdoor seating and the food itself is generally quite good. I have tried a number of the brunch options (waffles, various omelettes) and all have been delicious, as well as the burger (really, really good) and the chicken sandwich (decent). In summary, I would recommend this place, but only if you (1) can have a sense of humor about the poor service, (2) are not in a hurry, and (3) don't mind kids.
Beer and (french) fries on a warm springtime day--really, these are all that anyone should want in this life. The little bee delivered these, and an order of vol au vent, last week. The food was good. The fries, perhaps overly crispy; the vol au vent, perhaps a little bland. (And lacking in bacon--see the description on the menu.) The service was a bit European (read: on the slow side), but the attitude was convivial, which made up for it. The outdoor seating is key. And the bill was, for once in a blue New York moon, reasonable. Fair. Keep it coming, Belgium, keep it coming.
