Pizza Mercato has long been an NYU familiar, thanks in no small measure to a hefty, bargain-priced student-and-employee special: two cheese slices and a 12 oz. soda for less than a Starbuck’s grande latte. But the menu also extends to sturdy fare like pasta, submarines, calzones, and chicken rolls. Takeout? Delivery? Catering, for the gastrointestinally intrepid? Pizza Mercado’s got it covered. But it’s not all takeaway: With nearly twenty stools and plenty of counter space, diners can stay and chow down; the bright fluorescent lights are fine for studying, if less than flattering. — Aimee Rawlins
