Profile

Pichet Ong's follow-up to Qi eateries in Times Square and Union Square takes over a former Williamsburg warehouse and transforms it into this meticulously designed, 200-seat spot. Statues of shining deities punctuate dim lighting and dark wood, and overly loud ambient trance music plays on the soundtrack. The enormity of the dining area matches the extensive menu, which is made up of small plates as well as the usual curry and noodle dishes. Ong's Ovaltine Pork Ribs and Yuzu Duck skewers from the "grilled dishes" part of the menu lack complexity, but he makes up for it with solid, if not transcendent, mains: The Salmon Wild Ginger Curry with Kanom Jiin Noodle offers a satisfying blend of Thai ingredients and flavors, and the Kee' Mao (Spicy Basil Noodles) packs the right amount of promised punch. Given Ong's stellar pastry background, it's no surprise that desserts here are among the high notes: pumpkin crème brulée, banana-date upside-down cake, and taro mousse are standouts.
