The proudly Italian menu at Red Gravy boasts dishes that executive chef Saul Bolton has spent the last decade perfecting, first at Saul in Boerum Hill, and later at the Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights. The Sunday special is a rotating list of three-course meals curated by Bolton himself. Employing traditional trappings made with standout ingredients—antipasti, primi, and secondi dishes full of delicate cheeses and savory meats—the food here raises the stakes. Standouts include the smoked mozzarella followed by the orechiette with spiced lamb meatballs, and the ravioli with sheep's-milk ricotta. The dining room has romantic wooden tables nestled against corner sofa seats with space for small groups in the center. Service clicks along with attentive efficiency that isn’t overbearing. And though the wine list is impressive (like the full-bodied Valpolicella to pair with your rabbit sugo), inventive cocktails are worth a try.Recommended Dishes
