Profile

Pull back the heavy, black curtains that hang in the doorway at Room Service and step into a cross between an 1800s hotel lobby and the Forever 21 in Times Square. Music pumps through the speakers at this Hell’s Kitchen Thai spot, where the varied crowd of twentysomethings is at least young enough to see the menus, despite the fact that the main source of light is a single chandelier enclosed in a giant glass box. Standard noodle dishes and some spiced-up Bangkokian options fill the menu; choose a meat, fish, or mix of vegetables to be sautéed or cooked over a variety of fried rice and curry options, like the standard fried rice with scallions, onions, tomatoes, carrots, and eggs. The “Eat Like a Bangkokian” section contains the most exciting dishes, such as the rare tuna perfection of the Sake Tunataro and the flavorful, soft crunch of the Pomegrante Walnut Duck. To drink, there’s a modest selection of beer and wine, in addition to an oddly exhaustive list of generous-size flavored mojitos, from blueberry to lychee.

Recommended Dishes

Sake Tunataro, $17.20; Pomegranate Walnut Duck, $16.90
