Despite the demure Upper East Side- townhouse setting, Rouge is really a bargain bistro masquerading as a big-ticket restaurant. Nothing on David Ruggerio's menu breaks the $20 barrier, decorative dabs of sauce and baby boutique-greenery garnishes notwithstanding. The framework is French, with occasional forays into trendy Italian and Asian territory, like the spicy miso-marinated Chatham cod. The "chef's wine list" is a bonanza of equally affordable bottles at laughably low mark-ups.

wonderful and romantic place to have an authentic and elegant french dinner. The menu boasts superb culinary choices and the prices are moderate. Save room for dessert and prepare to be bowled-over by the orgiastic chocolate-lovers plate which promises to fulfill all your sweet desires! The only thing missing here is the view of Le Tour Eiffel!

Delicious, innovative cuisine

Everything on the menu was so appealing it was difficult to choose. All four of us ordered different dishes and we all thought everything from appetizers to desserts was outstanding. Excellent service. Tables are nicely spaced so conversation is clearly audible.
