The lowdown

This all-day Australian café serves a menu of crowd-pleasing staples with a heathy-ish, bowl-based bent. There’s a tangy chicken burger; a decent pasta Bolognese; and a salad of roast pumpkin, baby spinach, and chevre in a balsamic dressing. For homesick expats, Ruby’s is also one of the few places in town to get a true-blue Aussie burger — ground beef mixed with finely chopped peppers and onions, then topped with a fried egg, beet slices, and roasted pineapple. In the morning, for “breakie,” have a “flat white” and the delicious, crispy-edged ricotta hotcakes.
