Profile

This place was formerly a pizza joint on the LES—now it’s in the East Village and there’s handmade pasta in place of pizza. It occupies a large open space on the corner of Second Avenue, featuring rustic décor with a reclaimed wood bar. The food is priced with an NYU student’s budget in mind, and the Brussels sprouts appetizer is a standout: The flash-roasted, quartered sprouts are crisp on the outside and crunchy inside and sprinkled generously with pecorino. The pastas are delicate and served in reasonable portions: The mini meatballs and wild-boar ragu are popular options; vegetarians are left to choose between pesto and a few tomato-based sauces: classic marinara, roasted eggplant with mozzarella, and creamy tomato with oregano. Be sure to save room for dessert and order the ricottella, a fried pocket of dense, unsweetened dough with hot Nutella and creamy ricotta spewing out of it.

Note

Reservations accepted for parties of six or more.
