Occupying a prime swath of Pier 17, this nautical-themed eatery is set against the scenic backdrop of South Street Seaport. The mall location is the hook for wandering tourists, day-tripping suburbanites, and first-daters in search of a romantic view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Strangely, the menu does infinitely better with simple standbys like bacon cheddar burgers and beer-battered fish than it does with a seafood entrée like penne with seared yellowfin tuna. But if the food lacks punch, the panorama is an unqualified knockout. Plus, this place is a hell of a lot closer than Disney World or the Las Vegas strip.
WeddingsAt the end of Pier 17, inside the South Street Seaport shopping center, Sequoia overlooks the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Manhattan cityscape. It’s nautical in theme and can hold 240 people for a seated dinner with dancing. From $100 per person.
Recommended DishesBeer-battered fish and chips, $15.95; bacon cheddar burger, $13.95
