This Argentine empanada and pizza bar from the folks behind Rosarito Fish Shack looks like a cross between a ski lodge and a whiskey bar. Fur-lined stools and rustic leather sofas sit under stuffed goats and moose horns, and the whiskey list is longer than the communal wooden tables. Empanadas are packed with fillings from all different cultures: Slow-roasted pulled pork and cold coleslaw are stuffed inside a puffed, flaky crust for the BBQ Piggy"; and mushroom, kale and goat cheese are delicately placed inside the same empanada crust to make something resembling a miniature calzone. Brick-oven personal pizzas feature a fluffy, crunchy crust, but under the weight of the many toppings, the pies’ bottoms soften. The small dessert menu takes ingredients from some of the main dishes: Brick-oven baked pear with vanilla ice cream is a near-perfect ending to a whiskey-soaked empanada feast.
