From the saturnine rings atop the silvery gray pillars to the flying-saucer light fixtures suspended above the dark blue booths, the Skylight Diner evinces a retro view of the future. Think the World of Tomorrow as conceived yesterday. Sound like overkill? It’s not. Like most old ideas, this one doesn’t overstate itself. The closest you’ll get to sci-fi eats is a chemical-yellow slice of lemon meringue. The rest of the menu tends to be unadulterated roadside staples: eggs, burgers, chops, and quick nods to Greek and Italian cuisines, plus a fair number of fish dishes. The wrap is about as modern as this place gets.
Party SpaceElevated in the back is an 80-seat, semi-enclosed, mirrored room with movable tables and two skylights.
