Korean-Chinese fusion is the specialty at this cozy handmade-noodle joint tucked in the back of another popular Korean restaurant, Muk Eun Ji. The menu is rife with a slew of appetizing noodle options, which marry the two cuisines in unusual ways. The ja jang myeon, noodles with black bean sauce, is responsible for drawing the legion of faithful diners on any given night. Then there’s also the jjam pong, a spicy seafood version that’s not for the faint of heart. In the spirit of efficiency, it’s possible to combine half an order of each and have it arrive in a bowl neatly divided into two sections. Then there’s the japchae bap, a generous platter with fried rice, your choice of protein, and japchae, a stirfried glass noodle dish with vegetables and in this case, beef. Also not to be missed is a dish reminiscent of sweet and sour chicken, yet uniquely served with large and crispy fried shrimp and a smattering of sauteed peppers and onions. Though it’s possible to be swayed by other selections on the extensive menu, be sure to order the hand pulled noodles, which are delightfully chewy and fresh. With an open view into the kitchen, there’s even an entertaining live show of hardy chefs slinging noodles around like pizza dough.Recommended Dishes
