Profile

This venue is closed.

Portions are generous at this no-frills neighborhood eatery, but that isn’t a euphemism for artery-clogging. Vegetable oil is king at this pan-Chinese restaurant, which offers dishes from Peking, Shanghai, and Szechuan. If you’re fed up with regional fare, treat yourself to one of the house specialties like Dragon on Fire (crisped fish served whole, with pine nuts and broccoli) or Dancing Shrimp (jumbo prawns with eggplant fritters, snap peas, zucchini, and fresh chili). Locals drop by for takeout staples—chicken with broccoli, General Tso’s, or one of the reliable, well-lubed noodle dishes—but those who stay enjoy a pleasantly sedate sit-down experience. The unpretentious wood paneling and tastefully spare décor nicely complement the uncomplicated menu, and flourishes like the pickled radishes, carrots, and cucumbers that precede each meal prove that it really is the little things that count. In this case, they just happen to add up to something worth returning to.
