Profile

Catering to both the after-work and the theater crowds, Stecchino offers everything from specialty cocktails to tapas to full Italian entrées. Serrano-wrapped artichoke-and-manchego-cheese triangles come three bite-size pieces to an order, while the fingerling home fries make a heftier starter, covered in Parmesan and crumbled bacon. Chef Jose Hernandez’s entrée plates don’t disappoint, like the well-rounded seared duck breast, tender with a crispy skin, accompanied by shitake faro (a grain dish similar to couscous) and roasted fennel. The socca crepe, resembling a taco in shape, is full of mixed-vegetable ratatouille and goat cheese and comes with mesclun greens. The tavern-style spot has a bar in front with café tables, plus a mellower dining area in back.
