Winded tourists and harried undergrads grab quick refreshers in the form of shakes and ice cream at this national franchise's relaxed, sunny space. Wholesome smoothies like the Power Pump—pineapple, orange, banana, protein powder, and spirulina—and the more decadent alternatives like peanut butter and chocolate are just the start; you can also concoct your own blend from an array of fruits and extras, including bee pollen and gingko. Though the small selection of serviceable sandwiches and salads is perfunctory, it’s complemented by an extensive list of nutritious soups; two of the more compelling choices are apple butternut squash and a shrimp and catfish gumbo. A hokey surfing mural aims to infuse the small eatery with a West Coast vibe, but you’ll forgive the Californication after sinking into the comfy lounge area.
