A highlight of Ninth Avenue’s international-food strip, Tagine adds a belly dancing tummy twirl to every pheasant pie, Wednesdays through Saturdays. And there are more types of couscous on the menu than rings on the dancers’ fingers.
Everything was perfect . . . the atmosphere, the service, the music, the decor, and especially the food. I had the chicken tangine with the restaurant's specialty bread. Incredible mix of flavours and presentation. I don't understand another reviewer's complaint that the food had no flavour . . either his taste buds are dead or he ate at a different restaurant). A wonderful meal, with a glass of wine, for $30. A unique dining experience.
Unlike the reviewer above, this oasis in the middle of midtown manhattan is not only welcoming, warm and friendly, it tries to be as accomodating as possible, and unfortunately sometimes it is filled to capacity, which understandably would upset some patrons who feel they are being ignored or snubbed. Our experience over the past 5 years has been the complete opposite, the handcrafted food is always fresh and consistent, bursting with flavor, delicately spiced and very healthy! We actually love the sangria, which is fruity, fresh and yes strong...the pitchers they serve are more than generous and Tagine often offers free half pitchers. The managers or owners, always send shots to tables or complimentary desserts as well. And yes they are absolutely still in business, they obviously succeeded in putting many smiles on peoples faces and tummies
