Hit-and-run restaurant-spinner Orhan Yegen has moved on, as is his wont, and in his wake the owners have regrouped, changing the name of this quick-service Turkish restaurant formerly known as Efendi, but keeping, for the most part, the menu. The bread doesn’t seem as fresh, but the classical mezes, meaty stews, and dishes like stuffed cabbage and moussaka, all served from a steam table, are as good as ever. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

Run by a young and friendly Turkish group that prepares fresh and delicious food - tender lamb, outstanding stuffed vine leaves, and a good range of appetizers and Turikish wine in a cheerful casual environment. Granted the hummus is not as good as it was under the name Efendi, but the change to cheer from the war zone Orhan created in the kitchen is worth the tradeoff. In a neighborhood that has relatively fewer cuisine choices at modest prices than much of Manhattan, it is a treasured neighborhood joint.
