Profile

Many still mourn the loss of Filipino standby Elvie’s Turo-Turo, and unfortunately, the current tenant, Tallgrass Burger, offers little consolation. Moss-green walls, fluorescent lights, and soft-rock tunes lend a sterile vibe to this takeout-focused burger joint, where a pseudo-environmentalism is expressed via grass-fed beef patties and cage-free Buffalo chicken drowning in soupy hot sauce. Generous slices of avocado, cheese, and sauces disguise the otherwise bland and forgettable patties and boring buns. Crispy sweet-potato fries complement the spicy fire rock burger, oozing with chipotle sauce and fresh jalapeños. Wash it all down with a shake—on the thin side, but not too sweet.

Recommended Dishes

Fire rock burger, $8.50; sweet potato fries, $3.95
