At lunch hour, this tiny place fills with young professionals slurping soup at the counter (be prepared for a short wait), while evening brings a more laid-back scene. The menu offers an extensive array of appetizers, six types of ramen, and an ever-rotating list of specials. Start with thin-skinned crispy gyoza, or the takowasa (wasabi octopus) if you’re feeling more adventurous. Soup is best enjoyed with the namesake Terawaka ramen: springy noodles swimming in the fatty and luscious tonkotsu (pork bone) broth, topped with the usual fixings, including a boiled-to-perfection semi-soft egg and extras like tangy red ginger. In other bowls, the basic shoyu broth is thin by comparison. Fortunately, minced garlic, sesame seeds, and an assortment of hot sauces and oils line the table so you can season the broth to your liking.
