Profile

This Japanese fastfood chain serves below average eats. The setting of neon yellow walls and utilitarian wooden tables—with hip-hop booming over the speakers—doesn’t help. Chewy pre-sliced breaded pork served over a pile of white rice comes with a paper cup filled with curry sauce to slosh over the cutlets. Dubious freshness means sashimi is not a better option. Even the eponymous teriyaki—both chicken and salmon—has a strange aftertaste. The most benign options are simple ones like steamed shrimp shumai, or a salad with a ginger-carrot- sesame dressing.
