This petite little seafood joint is a modest but brightly lit, one-room shop (shack it is not) with a few tables and a bar looking out the window onto the street. Undeniably charming in its simplicity, you order your crab from the cashier and wait until your name is called. True to the name, there’s hardly anything on the menu that isn’t crab, which is slightly disappointing (there’s only so many ways to prepare these crustaceans) but also reassuring—this place does one thing and does it well. The inventive dishes run the gamut from classic platters of enormously arachnoid crab legs to crab tacos with your choice of chipotle mayo, wasabi mayo, or lemon aïoli. The wasabi is a surprisingly delicious complement to the modest fishy taste of the crab. And, of course, there’s the crab roll, a pleasantly simple sandwich of unadorned crabmeat in a generously buttered roll. Tossed with aïoli and bay, the potato and corn sides are a nice palliative to the tender crab, and one would be amiss not to try the homemade iced tea. For dessert, banana pudding, BCakeshop cupcakes, and housemade brittle cleanse the palette.
