Stepping into this Broome street spot means entering an alternative universe of vibrant color—mostly bright pink. There are pink tables, a pink flamingo perched in a potted tree, and a pink umbrella hanging from the ceiling above the big open kitchen that serves as this trendy Lower East Side’s centerpiece. Thankfully, the flavors are as bright as the walls. A farm-to-table take on Thai street food, the restaurant serves dishes like bowls of crunchy papaya salad and local oysters studded with nahm jim chili sauce. Food comes “however it’s ready,” which means, during one winter night, a big bowl of red prawn curry —prawn heads on, fiery and fragrant with Thai basil—may be half-devoured by the time the salt and pepper chicken wings arrive. The batter is crispy, the chicken beneath it dreamily tender. Cocktails feature honey, hence the name, and the rum-based Lucky You is served in a coconut, spoon and all, equal parts ridiculous and perfect.
