Profile

The Peacock dining room at the William Hotel is a refreshingly intimate, low-lit space divided into four rooms, with luxe red upholstery on the banquettes and gorgeous chandeliers throughout. The library room by the door acts as the Peacock’s lounge (you’ll find another bar at the Shakespeare, also inside the hotel), while the dining room itself features little other than a handful of elegantly set tables. The food here is classically British, and the menu features items like pies stuffed with either rabbit and savory wild mushrooms or tender braised beef and root vegetables. While most of these plates are quite heavy and filling, some of their best are on the lighter side, like the London Particular, a soup of English and split peas laced with cheddar and mint, and a well-portioned fillet of Scottish salmon over charred cauliflower. The complete English experience is rounded out by an extremely professional and gracious team of waitstaff, as well as a host of mouthwatering desserts, like sweet and satisfying sticky toffee date-and-banana pudding, complete with toffee rum sauce and flapjack ice cream.
