Midtown East
Although it’s located in Indian-dominated Curry Hill, the Three Hens serves locally-sourced, organic American comfort food. The setting is urban-rustic: weathered wooden tables, bare metal chairs, Edison light bulbs, and ivy printed wallpaper. The menu includes a variety of choices for brunch, lunch, and dinner – a crispy five-minute egg, lamb burger, bucatini carbonara, buttermilk pancakes – but the tender lamb ribs with sweet and spicy lamb glaze and the creamy free-range chicken pot pie are among the restaurant’s more solid dishes. A selection of reasonably-priced wine and custom cocktails accompanies. With friendly enough service and homey fare, the Three Hens is a local’s answer to a no-fuss weeknight meal.
