Profile

The Wayland and Good Night Sonny in the East Village have a certain cool factor without any of the usual accompanying pretension. The owners of those spots are taking that vibe to the West Side with this all-day restaurant and bar, where the menu features corn-and-blueberry waffles; sandwiches like pulled chicken with cilantro aïoli and the Grandma Anna (scrambled eggs, guanciale, broccoli rabe); and, of course, a grain-and-egg bowl. At night, order from a full menu including fried black rice with egg yolk, raw-walnut pâté, and smoked whole trout. There’s a full bar, with a cocktail program similar to the Wayland’s (it once focused on low-ABV drinks); yes, you can get the kale-and-ginger-juice-enhanced Garden Variety Margarita. The happy hour is good, especially for the area there’s a list of $9 cocktails and discounted snacks like a $5 fried-oyster taco with cilantro yogurt. And the bohemian space is handsome, filled with plants, art, and light.

Note

The restaurant offers a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
