Profile
This venue is closed.
The interior—green-and-white plastic banquettes, a wall-size black-and-white portrait of a Southwestern mesa, and cacti and potted palms—resembles an upscale California diner, and the food isn’t far afield from that uninspired standard. Still, a few dishes show a delicate Moroccan or North African influence, like the hummus appetizer and assorted grilled satay plate, with two skewers each of moist chicken, tender beef, and spiced shrimp, served on grilled tortillas with three dipping sauces, including a spicy cilantro mayo. Unfortunately, much of the menu attempts to cater to every taste—ranging from quesadillas and vegetable-topped pizzas to fettuccine and steak frites—and ends up satisfying none. The food is above-average for a diner, the dispassionate cooking too often disappoints.
UpstairsFez Over Time Café is the lounge on Time Café’s second floor, serving the same menu but with later hours. Recessed seating, couches in enclaves, and vaguely Moroccan gold-and-stained-glass chandeliers cast a red glow over the restaurant.
