Profile

A 48-ounce dry-aged porterhouse, a 24-foot mahogany bar, twenty types of single-malt scotch, and an “El Presidente Suite,” a.k.a., the Giuliani room, are a few of the lavish little details that the owners hope will distinguish this Manhattan branch of Bayside’s Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse from the beefy competition.

It appears that in response to distressed economy, high-end "prime" steakhouses like Uncle Jack's Steakhouse are lowering their prices, putting out new inexpensive dishes. Their two pound chef broiled lobster dinner with all the trimmings is a great bargain at $30. There are now dinner items for $22-$23 like excellent short ribs. There are discounts on wines Tuesday nights. It is actually an opportune time to eat in these otherwise expensive places!

I came to Uncle Jack's specifically to try their porterhouse for two. Loved it!!! Shared it with my date and it was plenty enough. The ambience was cozy and traditional steakhouse vibe. Will be back for the Lobster special mmm.....
