Compared to some of the flashier dining options around Lincoln Center, Vince & Eddie's is decidedly mellow with its sedate red brick and hunter green interior, framed vintage prints and sundry Americana. Eating here, among some well-dressed 60-somethings, can be a graceful way to ease into an evening of Wagnerian grandeur, Balanchine athleticism or Shakespearean pageantry. The kitchen serves upscale American comfort food that practically necessitates a constitutional walk afterwards, like Guinness beef stew with wild rice. On fair-weather days, a table in the serene, glass-enclosed garden (with tiny white Christmas lights) has increased appeal. Come winter, a chair near the fireplace ensures that a visit here will warm you outside, even as the food warms your insides.
