Profile

Like the old LPs that inspired its name, Vynl seems to be endlessly spinning. This Asian-flavored bistro is also a pop-music shrine, with black banquettes, psychedelic mosaic tabletops, a ceramic Elvis bust and menus glued to album covers. The food, fortunately, is right on key. If you want to Thai one on, choose between the well-proportioned chicken satay and the sirloin (or vegetable-and-basil) stir-fry. And if alternative dishes like the wasabi-rubbed rare tuna wrap don't hook you, try old-school selections like Grandpa’s Traditional Meatloaf or a side of creamy, flat "smashed" potatoes with the skins mixed in. Breakfast rocks the best, perhaps, because it's the most progressive meal, from the watercress-and-scallion Vynl scramble to brioche French toast worth warbling about. Milk shakes and watermelon lemonades provide a neat complete to this edible nostalgia trip.

This place is a real win on 9th Ave. The facade of the place is the the fun begins. The food is a real pleasure but what makes this place a bomb is the atmosphere. The fried chicken is my favorite along with the mac and cheese. But you have to go to the the bathrorom...three times...once for Dolly, once for Cher, and once for Elvis.

Wonderful Experience

First time visiting,at the suggestion of someone riding on the train from Connecticut. I was taking my daughter and niece to the city as graduation from college gifts. My sister was with us as well. Everything about our eating experience was outstanding. Service was very good, decor was fun and entertaining (especially the bathrooms!!), and the food was excellent!!. I had the turkey meatloaf accompanied by mashed sweet potatoes, sugar snap peas, and cranberry relish. The others had wraps: grilled veggies, Cobb salad, and lemongrass chicken. All came with homemade potato chips, as well as homemade sweet bread and butter pickles. I've told many people about the restaurant, and would go back in a heartbeat!! Don't miss it while you're in the city.
