Turning out fresh, high-quality take-out and catered food since 1993, the eldest of Yura & Company's trio of locations is half prepared-foods market, half restaurant. The market side offers the same delicious herb-redolent grain salads, prepared vegetables, roast meats, and fish, and pretty packaged sandwiches and salads as Yura & Company at Madison and 92nd Street. It also vends the substantial scones and muffins made at Yura's hip bakery-cafe, one block north. The country kitchen-style dining room, though part of the same large space, is populated by impeccably dressed senior citizens, frazzled new parents, and the occasional bickering family. They’re all here for the delicious omelets and other brunch staples, served until late afternoon, and the great sandwiches available all day. A BLT, served on toasted sourdough, incorporates a half-dozen slices of thick-cut smoked bacon; a rare roast beef sandwich comes with salty frizzled onions on a brioche bun. The dinner menu, while a great deal with salad, coffee, and dessert included in the price of an entrée, looks and tastes like something from a plated event for several hundred. Stick with downscale menu items, desserts, and what Yura & Company does best: take-out.
