Profile

This venue is closed.

Like a giant food court that outgrew its mall, this mammoth basement cafeteria inside an office building offers an expansive, varied selection of international foods and cuisines. Sushi, kebabs and gyros; hot and cold salad bars; grilled fare; pasta, subs, and wraps; and even prime rib offer a riot of mealtime choices. Personal-size pizzas and sandwiches are reliable basics; for something spicier, Adana Kebab has just enough chili heat on the lamb to keep things interesting. It's also one of the few menu items that reflect Zeytuna's Middle Eastern heritage; the name means "olive oil" in Turkish. (Find specialty and gourmet grocery items upstairs and Zeytuna souvenirs in the gift shop.) It’s a no-ambiance setting: Grab your food, pay at a fast-moving register queue, scoop up some plasticware, and hunker down among dozens of other hungry, happy, chattering workers. The main space—with high ceilings, mosaic-paved structural pillars, murals, and tile-colored tabletopsybustles, but patrons often linger with a crossword or a coffee. Another outpost, near the East River, is a miniaturized version of the mother ship, sans grocery but with a similar menu.
