This Hell’s Kitchen’s offshoot of the Financial District original specializes in traditional Neapolitan-style pizza fresh from the brick oven. Soft red lighting and exposed brick walls pair with an upbeat soundtrack, giving the restaurant a slick, trendy vibe that’s only enhanced by the 24-seat communal table in the middle of the room. Skip the calzones– they’re good, but overshadowed by the tasty pizzas, whose chewy, flimsy crust leaves you wanting more. The house pizza tops a traditional buffalo-mozzarella D.O.C. with cherry tomatoes and small slices of cotto, while the more interesting (and tastier) pizza ai carciofi e tartufo layers artichoke and truffle oil with thin shavings of parmigiano reggiano. If you’re not in the mood for carbs, try the old-school Caesar salad: it comes rustic-style with uncut lettuce leaves topped with creamy dressing and capers.
