This attractive American restaurant is a welcome hangout in the financial district. The main dining space is narrow and loungelike, with exposed brick, chandeliers, plush white leather banquettes, and a handsome wooden bar with hanging bulbs overhead. In warmer months, a huge front patio with black wrought-iron tables and white umbrellas fills up with office associates and couples chatting over the din booming from inside. Drinkers don’t seem too interested in a gourmet experience, though small plates like lobster macaroni and cheese and tender lamb chops are tasty options. The full menu offers more extremes: Simple grilled chicken over a bed of arugula lacks flavor, but the burger with fries, or the namesake sandwich with filet mignon and a fried egg are both very satisfying. Lunchtime offers a cafeteria-like setting in an adjoining space, with salads, pastas, and more sandwiches. Surprisingly, desserts, like the crepe with bananas and Nutella, are quite good.
Kitchen HoursThe kitchen closes at 11 p.m. nightly.
