Profile

This casual venture from the team behind Mesa Coyoacan is built around an old Airstream trailer the group had initially intended to use as a freestanding taco truck. Now the truck is embedded in one wall of a large enclosed dining space, with a rooftop patio and bar. The hyperurban design draws inspiration from the Airstream, with corrugated steel siding on the walls and the bar and in its metal chairs and light fixtures. The menu, like the restaurant itself, has expanded beyond the taco-truck concept, with ceviches, small plates, margaritas, tequilas, and mezcals. Still, tacos are the main event. Try the succulent barbacoa, richly spiced and gamey, with a zing of habanero-pickled red onion. The arabes tradicionale, with pork and grilled onions, is another good pick. But skip the pescados, bathed in a vibrantly orange guajillo that’s just as bland as the fish. It’s also a better move to order straight-up dessert instead of the sugary margaritas: The flan is smoky, buttery, and quite elegant.
