A colorful facade beckons and solicitous service soothes at this gracious midtown Mexican, where chef Adrian Leon puts a subtly-spiced spin on south-of-the-border staples. Complimentary chile-powdered jicama and cucumber spears are an Atkins-worthy alternative to a bread basket, but you'll still fill up on hard to resist guacamole and chips. Lunchtime wraps are a wieldier take on burritos, and even the well-dressed salads are spiked with chiles. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

My husband and I (fiance at the time) went here after we were engaged in Central Park. We were just walking around in la la land looking for food. We saw the Zona Rosa and decided to try it. My husband, being a Mexican Native, never holds high hopes for any Mexican kitchen besides his own, however, he was impressed with the different variations on classic Mexican dishes. The Guac was great. Very Fresh. Food arrived hot and beer and cocktails were ice cold. Service was wonderful. We plan to make a trip back around our anniversary this fall.
Gaucamole great. Chunks of fresh avocado. Asked for no onions and got it. Ceviche with scallops, octopus, clams, mussels and calamari had a kick to it and tasted fine. Good to have jicama, orange slices and cucumber instead of bread. Serves to counteract spicy food, which I just don't personally care for. Had grilled tuna, rare, with roasted corn and avocado salsa. Noticed pattern of cuisine uses julienne cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and different chiles. Loved the dulce de leche ice cream. Ice creams and sorbets are made on the premises. Wouldn't bring kids, because they're too young to appreciate this fine food.
