Profile
This is the kind of food cooperative that explains why socially conscious, environmentally aware people, once known as hippies, are also sometimes described as "crunchy granola." You'll find that cereal here, among other health food store staples and bulk items such as grains (spelt, corn meal, bulgur), dried beans, fresh and roasted nuts, and Jerusalem artichoke pasta. You'll also find a plethora of dairy-free, wheat-free, and gluten-free goods and organic cleaning products, all jam-packed into this tiny store, which is likely to be crowded with congenial coop members working their shifts: They might be sweeping the floor, manning the register, or taking care of the all-organic produce. Unlike other food coops, you don't have to subscribe to shop here, but members get a discount, and working members get a deeper one. Even if you're not socially conscious it's a great place to source hard-to-find ingredients like light coconut milk or vanilla bean soda.
