The cult denim brand opened its first stand-alone boutique in New York in summer 2008, a sprawling, 3,500-square-foot space decked with dark wood floors, white laquered shelving, velvet benches, and silk area rugs. The denim is stacked on Zebrano wood tables, available in dozens of washes and styles for men, women, and children (kids' sizes 4 to 14). Women’s pairs come in boot, wide leg, straight, and skinny cuts—each including the status-symbol stitching on back pockets, some with details like front pleats, contrasting seams, or subtle abrasions for the distressed look. Men’s pairs are sorted by wide leg, relaxed, boot cut, straight, or slim. Denim shades range from faded white to inky blueish black. Dangling chains of mirrored, S-shaped links divide the space into menswear and womenswear sections. Beyond denim, the 7 sportswear line is surprisingly broad, offering wool trousers, chic trenches, cotton dresses, and denim skirts for women, and cashmere sweaters, buttery leather jackets, and a range of button-downs for men. Tall shelves covering the back wall display the brand’s line of leather clutches and slouchy shoulder bags, offset by small vases of orchids and decorative steel balls.
