Profile

This combination haberdashery–curiosity shop sits behind flowing drapes emblazoned with the image of a raven, and the Gothic touches don’t end there: Inside, collapsible sunglasses and silver stag-head rings are side by side with antiquities like candle-wick trimmers and absinthe kits. Designer Daniel Jackson is behind the Alice in Wonderland décor — lamps bolted to the ceiling upside-down, an upended table doubling as a suit rack — and the sleek scissors-inspired necklaces and multi-finger rings, which can be examined with the nuclear-power-plant-technician’s gloves set into glass display cases. Along with hand-stitched Rag and Bone jeans and shoes by Chausser and Raf Simons, BBlessing also has its own line of custom-cut menswear for natty Edgar Allan Poe types. The solicitous sales crew has a story for every item, so don’t be shy with questions: We imagine the tales behind the crucifix-shaped horsehair brushes and mallard-head walking sticks are worth hearing.
