Walter McTeigue and Tim McClelland take over 40 hours to handcraft each ring
that comes out of their Berkshires workshop. Their bridal collection, which is
carried at Bergdorf Goodman, specializes in durable designs that are tailored to
the stone. Standouts include the Flora engagement rings and eighteen-karat-gold
or platinum mini-sculptures layered with petals (from $5,500).

I was recently in the engagement ring market. Having looked from designer to designer and come to the conclusion that all the rings look exactly the same, I found M&M. Walter McTeigue sat down with me and listened to exactly what I wanted. He counseled, questioned, called his expert jewelers at the shop, and talked it over with his talented partner, Tim McClelland. By the time I left his office, he and I were both very excited about the ring. In the end, the sapphire, diamond, and platinum ring is more valuable to me than any I've seen, absolutely gorgeous, and completely one of a kind. My fiancee and I would go back to M&M in a heartbeat for any piece of jewelry for which we care about the quality and the cost and encourage others to do the same.
