Profile

This venue is closed.

Leather-bound plant hangers and colorful dream catchers hang in the windows of this small shop in South Williamsburg. The general store and workshop combines the two brands of three friends: Species by the Thousands from Erica Bradbury, and Cold Picnic from couple Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer. The trio, who also craft items for brands like Free People and Urban Outfitters, stripped the former sneaker shop down to expose its brick walls, installed a shingled wall to separate the store from the workspace, and replaced the floors with antique pine wood from Kentucky, all details that reflect the earthy nature of their products. Every nook and cranny of the store has been used to display items from the two lines, such as woven rugs, screen-print tees, customizable dog collars, candles, sunglasses, fair-trade utensils from Kenya, and lots and lots of bronze jewelry (a collection of engagement rings is on the way). A stand in the corner also holds the love child of the two lines: a collaborative collection of apothecary sprays and herbal soaps inspired by white magic and folklore.
