After years of selling her plus-size line in department stores like Bloomingdale’s, Abby Zeichner opened her flagship in a Soho loft in August 2008. Steel wires strung between the chandeliers overhead suspend racks a foot above the wooden floor, and the décor is marked by organic elements like bamboo wood counters. Zeichner’s best-selling designs are vibrant, printed tunics with jewel-encrusted necklines that look to be inspired by staples from Gianni Versace and Roberto Cavalli. Animal prints and punchy patterns adorn the inexhaustible collection of flattering wrap dresses and skirts, and the lively garb is organized by color scheme.
