Owner Haddy Faal, who grew up in Zambia and speaks French, named her high-end children's store after her daughter, Aminah. From a family of entrepreneurs (her parents own businesses in Africa and North Carolina), she worked for a time as a freelance makeup artist for stores like Saks, Bloomingdale’s, and Barneys before opening her shop in November 2006. Located on the second floor of the World Financial Center mall, the shop principally attracts workers in the building, Tribeca parents, and Ground Zero tourists. The selection of girls' and boys' clothes for newborns through age 12 is eclectic and high-end: There are American brands like Tea Collection and Diesel jeans, as well as imported lines like Lola et Moi and Petit Bateau from France, and Imps and Elfs from the Netherlands. Styles range from casual to fancy—expect to find wrap shirts, tunics, jacquard sweaters, and puffy-sleeved dresses. — Caroline Kinneberg

I have been shopping at Aminah et les Amis since it opened and it is by far my favorite, as it offers a very unique selection of merchandise. The owner, and staff have always been very pleasant and helpful each time I visit. It is a must see for anyone who is in search of the most interesting childrens clothing and
